OTHM provides a programme of professional qualifications that are designed for Student Members to develop progressively the skills and knowledge that they will need to help them in their careers.
 
OTHM supports and encourages initiatives that help to minimize the impact of tourism on the environment and culture of host destinations.

OTHM Qualification Entry Requirements
   There are four levels of qualification open to OTHM Student Members
 
OTHM Qualification Entry Requirements
Introductory CertificateClick here for more details Individuals who wish to commence or have commenced work in the tourism and hospitality industry + English language competencey of IELTS 6.0

NB If concurrent English language tuition is offered it is recommended that students have IELTS 5.0 at the beginning of the course and IELTS 6.0 by the completion of the course.

  • Holders of OTHM Introductory Certificate or
  • 5 GCSE's or 5 O'Levels or equivalent or
  • Equivalent academic qualifications or
  • Mature students with at least 5 year's relevant experience

+ English Language Competency (IELTS 6.0)

  • Equivalent academic qualifications or
  • Mature students with a minimum of 8 year's relevant experience
  • including 3 year's management experience

+ English Language Competency (IELTS 6.0)
* Holders of OTHM Diploma can apply for Associate Member status

OTHM Introductory Certificate
  Qualification: IntroCert OTHM
  Who is this suitable for?
  The OTHM Introductory Certificate is suitable for Student Members who are at the beginning of their careers. Candidates do not necessarily have to have experience of working in the industry at the outset of the course but, if they do not have this experience, students are expected to be working in the industry on a part-time basis during the course. The Introductory Certificate course allows candidates to acquire useful basic knowledge as a preparation for a career in the industry.
  You must be 18 years or older at the beginning of the course.
   
  Marks allocated:
  60% Project, 30% On-line examination, 10% Attendance
   
  Project
  The project will cover a practical working situation in travel, tourism or hospitality. Students are expected to undertake some research and to draw on their current work experience.
  Your training centre will assist you in choosing and defining your topic so that it covers areas of the OTHM Introductory Certificate syllabus.
  Assessment of the Introductory Certificate Project.
   
  On-Line Exam
  30 questions multiple choice to be completed in 1 hour at an OTHM Approved On-Line Examination Centre
   
  Pass Mark
  Candidates should attain at least 50% in both the Project and On-Line Examination to gain the Introductory Certificate
   
  Grades will be allocated according to the OTHM grade table
   
  Progression
  On passing the OTHM Introductory Certificate Members will be eligible to be considered for OTHM Certificate course.
